We’re on the hunt for a highly organized, detail-loving Bookkeeper with property management accounting experience to join our team. Bonus points if you already know your way around AppFolio!
In this role, you won’t just crunch numbers, you’ll:
- Oversee and guide a remote bookkeeper
- Keep our financial records squeaky clean
- Manage the full accounting cycle for a busy property management portfolio
Think of yourself as the financial quarterback of the team, you’ll be keeping the playbook tight and making sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight & Supervision
- Manage and review the work of a remote bookkeeper to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide guidance and implement checks for consistent processes.
- Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including work order billing and utility billing.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
- Process and record receipts, security deposits, and owner distributions.
- Handle payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready financial records.
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and state regulations.
- Collaborate with property managers and operations staff to resolve billing questions.
- System Management
- Utilize AppFolio (preferred) or similar property management accounting systems.
- Support process improvements and ensure accurate reporting for management and ownership.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in property management or real estate.
- Proficiency with AppFolio (preferred) or comparable accounting/property management software.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with utility billing, payroll, reconciliations, and receipts management.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee remote staff.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $25 – $35 per hour (depending on experience)
- Part-time schedule (30 hrs/week, M–F, 9 am – 3 pm)
